The Winter Highlights

Winter is the season I reach for the highlighters the most. There's something about a product being able to take you from dull looking skin to a Winter's morning glow. Topshop's Highlighter in Sunbeam is my latest purchase. I've really been enjoying it lately - I wrote in full about it HERE. One product I loved last Winter that I have recently rediscovered is Seventeen's Skin Wow Highlighter. I adore this product so much because of it's multi uses. It can also be used as a primer or added to your foundation for a dewy finish. Not bad for one of the cheapest out there on the market. Recently I got my hands on a mini sized Benefit High Beam and it was like love at first sight. I love the finish it gives to the skin and tend to use it along the cheekbones to enhance them. More than likely I will be repurchasing the full size. Bourjois' Java Rice Powder isn't exactly your typical highlighter but it does have a shimmer to it. This gives a lovely radiance to the skin.

Accessories For The Party Season

#

Following on from my recent Topshop Wishlist for the party season I thought I'd add some of the accessories I'm lusting after at the moment. It's no hidden secret that the right accessories can completely change the look of a plain and simple dress. Personally my favourite way to incorporate glitter, sequins and embellishment is through wearing accessories. If you can't wear lots of jewellery and killer heels over the party season then when can you?

Topshop Wishlist: Partywear

#
I've been hunting high and low for different outfits for over the festive period as it is party season. Topshop have been winning the race - no surprises there. I'm stuck between something simple with glittery accessories or vice versa (look out for my accessories wish list too)! Here's my top picks from Topshop..

Shoe Wishlist

#

There's a hole in my wardrobe that needs filling. It's a high heel shaped hole that's in need of a revamp. I could also do with a little bit more colour to my shoe collection. I take the saying 'black goes with everything' very seriously it appears.

So here are the shoes I'm lusting after right now:

Pattern Focus: Pretty Paisley

paisley

A new series from myself - 'Pattern Focus'. If you stepped into my wardrobe you'd think you'd stepped into a time machine back to the 60's with the amount of patterns I have going on in there. This means I'm constantly trailing the internet for patterned clothing at an affordable price. It only seems fair to share my favourite pieces I come across with my readers right?

Paisley paisley paisley. Oh paisley seems to be getting more and more popular just lately. I for one am certainly not complaining though (even if my bank balance is). Without a shadow of a doubt my favourite pattern and that reflects in my wardrobe. I find it so easy to grab a paisley dress and be able to throw on a plain jacket because the pattern does the talking for you in any outfit concerned. Here are a few favourites:

Top of my wish list is the kimono from Topshop. I'm loving the longline versions, especially the patterned ones as they're so easy to dress up or down with a plain dress this Summer.

What do you think of the paisley pattern?

Holiday Wishlist

#
A couple of days of the sun making an appearance has left me dreaming of getting on that plane in September and whacking on the factor 30 (C'mon I burn easy). Ever since I booked my holiday a few months back I've found myself spending hours trailing every fashion site you can think of in search of holiday staples and a few out there items without breaking the bank too much.

  • Love via Topshop Waffle Shirt Dress (£28) - Just lately I have been adoring green pieces for the wardrobe, especially mint green. This pastel dress is simple but can be more dressed up with accessories and what not.
  • Forever 21 Round Sunglasses (£4.90) - I just really like the shapes of these sunglasses and the ombre colour effect of the lens. Not a bad price either.
  • Whistles via ASOS Rivington Chain Clutch (£75) - I own a lot of monochrome outfits so I thought this gorgeous clutch would add a pop of colour to any outfit. A little pricey but it is real leather. And who doesn't love a bit of Whistles in their life?
  • H&M Patterned Playsuit (£12.99) - As a sucker for a patterned piece I fell for this playsuit, especially at such an inexpensive price. The crossover thin straps are simple but a little statement at the same time.
  • River Island Blue Animal Print Bikini Top (£16) - Leopard print can be done so very wrong at times, especially when it can look a little tacky. But RI are bang on with this bikini. It comes with removable straps too, avoiding awkward tan lines.
  • River Island Blue Animal Print Bikini Bottoms (£12) - High waisted bottoms are what I've been searching everywhere for as I find it to be the most flattering style.
  • NEXT Block Sandal in Rust (£32) - The hunt for the perfect heeled sandals is over as I have been won over ever so easily. Tan shoes I tend to find can be worn with pretty much everything, the new black maybe? No, okay.

Topshop Lips in Petal

I've been wanting to try out Topshop's make up range for the longest time but just never got round to it. I've heard great things about their lip products so I recently grabbed one in the shade Petal. Quite easily it has become my favourite pale pink to wear, it's the most perfect pink nude I've come across.

The shade 'Petal' is a velvet finish and glides onto the lips, leaving a moisturised finish. I'd add lip balm before you apply though as I found it can be a little drying after a few hours of wear. Petal leaves a nice shine to the lips and looks amazing if you add a lip gloss of your choice to it. It's an everyday shade to wear and would suit any skin tone in my opinion. We all know how adorable Topshop's make up packaging is too. I definitely think I've found my favourite nude shade to wear.

You can buy 'Petal' for £8 HERE.

Current Wishlist

#

Ever since I booked the holiday to Majorca for September time I've been browsing every fashion website going and adding a lot of stuff to wishlists. As part of my spending ban I can only purchase clothes/shoes/accessories etc if I'm going to wear them during the summer and on holiday as I have a lot of saving to do! I'm massively impressed with River Island later and to seem to have everything I'm looking for.

Top of my list is probably the bag as I'm desperately in need of a good size travel bag to use as hand luggage, especially as it's on sale too! I'm really loving pastels and different patterns for the upcoming SS14 collections dotting around.

Boxing Day/January Sales Haul

I've decided the start of this new year I'm putting myself on a spending ban for say the first 6 weeks, no beauty items, no fashion items and definitely not any shoes. I look back at the past year and wonder where my money goes. I spend a little on gigs and the travel side of it but the amount of clothes I have sitting around I've never even worn is ridiculous. Hopefully this year there will be a fair few of us going on holiday and hopefully V festival again. Plus, trips to Manchester, Liverpool, London and Leicester for a few gigs will more than likely wipe me out so do I really need anything else? No. I just want to point out anything in this haul was purchased prior to the New Year and I picked up some bargains.

I popped into Boots straight away. I did pick up a few other things but they were gifts for my Mum's birthday. This little 'post party beauty' kit set me back a fiver. I've been loving the 3 in 1 Purifying Micellar Solution from L'Oreal and seen as it retails at £4.99 anyway I couldn't turn a basically free moisturiser could I? There was so many bargains in the Boots half price sale so I'd check it out while stocks last! I can't see this on Boots' website anywhere but it's available at Feel Unique for £6, HERE.

I always used to think the NEXT sale was a bit naff, still is really but I did find a load of these roll neck fine dogtooth printed tops for £8, down from £16 so obviously I grabbed one. Thinking of the hotter months that are ahead I'm sure this monochrome number could work well with a pop of colour on the bottom half.

Fred Perry always start their sale a few days before Christmas, and around the time of payday. I'm a massive fan of the brand and it's the only clothing items I indulge in money wise. I don't know if it's a good or bad thing they emailed me over an extra 15% off discount code for being a loyal customer though. I'm not complaining though. The quality of the polos are second to none and this reminds me something from the Amy Winehouse collection even though it isn't. This cost me £35.70 with my discount code, currently at £42 from £60 HERE. Fred Perry polo shirts really are an investment piece.

Matalan isn't a shop I tend to shop in but I know they always have a good sale on their lingerie section which is the reason I stopped by. Me being me though couldn't resist a little look through the sale rails and stumbled across this geometric print shirt, £7 down from £14. I've been looking for something like this for ages. It's a little sheer and you might want to pop a another top underneath. They also had this available in red if blue isn't your colour. It's also available online to, HERE.

As you can imagine the sale in Topshop was manic on Boxing Day. I made a swift stop in there on my lunch break and I didn't have the patience to have a proper look and come 3 o'clock everything was in a bit of a mess but I did find this jacquard embossed style skater dress with a high neck collar. I loved the shape and style of this. Originally £30 and came in at half price for £15. They don't appear to have the black dress in stock online but I did spot similar ones HERE and HERE.

I did find there was a lot in the Dorothy Perkins sale but when I popped into Outfit which stocks the brand I found there were loads of variety and a lot better deals too. This jersey navy drop waist dress was £3. YES 3 ENGLISH POUNDS. Originally priced at £22. I can't find this anywhere online, imagine the frenzy if you found a basics item online though for a few quid.

I've made a little promise to myself this year to wear more jewellery. My collection is pretty much none existent apart from the odd few things here and there. I first stumbled across these different shaped rings and for £3 I couldn't turn them down. Then you can only imagine the look on my face when I discovered 3 matching necklaces for half price too, just £3.25. New Look really do have all the bargains every year don't they? I think I dropped on with these sets.

One item I told myself I wanted to get was in fact a basic black skater skirt. This one was about 5 or 6 pound. Another embossed number but with a waffle like pattern going on. Something simple for the wardrobe and an easily layered number as Summer feels very far away right now. January blues..

Very very similar to the top I picked up in NEXT but I though hey what the hell I'll wear them so £5 isn't going to break the bank too much. Not entirely sure how to describe this pattern. Like a fine print tiling or something along those lines but well done to New Look again for a cracking sale.

I was if'ing and ar'ing over this dress but in the end I decided that I will wear it and it can always come out back to play when Autumn rolls back round again. Navy blue jacquard floral on black isn't something I'd usually go for but I really liked this one. Priced at £11, working out a little bit better than half price. They don't have this exact dress online but a very similar one can be found HERE.

That's everything now for a good few weeks on the clothes haul front anyway.

Christmas Jumper Picks

Christmas

Every man and his dog seem to be sporting a Christmas jumper this winter. I haven't invested in one yet but everyone seems to be pulling all the stops out when it comes to the festiveness in knitwear form. After scanning my favourite clothing websites for one I thought I'd share which ones I'm loving! As you can tell there's all different designs but opting for a darker jumper on these picks..
  • 1. BooHoo (£15) - This could be my favourite out of the bunch but who doesn't love a Home Alone quote?! Text based jumpers aren't the most popular but I love this one.
  • 2. Topshop (£50) - I can only imagine how soft this one is. I really love the colours of it but not so sure of the price tag I'm afraid.
  • 3. Primark (£14) - With this one I would quite happily walk around on Christmas Eve with this one, such a cute Christmas scene going on.
  • 4. New Look (£24.99) - With some jumpers I find you can only wear them on Christmas Day but with this one it's brilliant for the build up to my favourite holiday of the year.
  • 5. Next (£28) - I actually spotted this one in store and Next are worth checking out as they have some lovely designs and the quality is always brilliant so you can use it next year too!
Have you been sucked into the Christmas jumper hype yet?
